It appears that every single time, Washington does
anything to help ease the pain of the middle class and poor in this country, some
egghead or a group of them see this as an opportunity to take advantage and
make money on the backs of those who have suffered most in our country. When are we going to say enough is enough and
start hitting back? When will the middle
class and the working poor stop being a victim and start reclaiming our mantle
as more than just dollar signs with legs to those who prey on us?
Recently, the Obama Administration secured a very large
down-payment for those homeowners who have done the right thing and kept up
with their mortgage payments even though they were the only ones playing by the
rules. The task force assigned to bring
those responsible for this casino creation to justice is still working diligently
and for those Americans who did all that they could to keep their homes and
their American Dream alive but were victims to the greed associated with those
cowards may soon get the justice that they deserve but now comes another “get
rich quick scheme” designed to target these very same people who have already
been harmed before. Below is a form
letter being mailed out to homeowners and those who continue to struggle.
Mortgage Auditing Program
Notice Expiration: 3/9/12
Division of A.M.T.
Recipient Case #: L1745058
This notice is to inform you that you may be owned a
refund of several thousand dollars from your mortgage lender. Records show that
you signed for a home loan on May 11, 2007 and that your loan amount was
$112,000. Government studies by the FDIC
as well as financial audit of lenders have shown that thousands of mortgages
contain mistakes or overcharges. Your
monthly mortgages payment may have been miscalculated and you may be due a
refund from either your current or previous mortgage lender. The average refund is $1,497.32 and one third
of the refund equal $3,000 to $7,500.00.
You are eligible for a mortgage analysis and refund
Please call 888-565-1179 and reference #L1745058 to
begin your refund review.
This is not an
offer to refinance. No refinancing is required under this option. Please call
for details regarding your refund
review. This is not a mortgage modification offer or solicitation. Loan
information displayed is obtained through public records and is used
solely to determine the likelihood of a mistake existing based on FDIC and
mortgage studies. This is
not a government offer. Certain restrictions apply. This is NOT an offer
to prevent or rescue you from foreclosure nor is this a forensic mortgage audit offer. Call
888-565-1179 for further information.
Notice that nothing in this letter identifies the company
or companies attempting to fleece these people and it wisely mention that this
is only a mortgage audit. Image what
happens after some homeowner submits the required $269.00 to check their eligibility
for a “mortgage analysis and refund review” only to not hear from these people again
or getting back a full refund if you do not qualify for the refund. If this company is legit, then those
struggling will finally have a company working for them to help re-coup and
ease some of their pain but if it is, as suspected, a “get rich quick scheme”,
putting this information out as quickly as possible should open them up to be disinfected
and allow authorities to clamp down on them before they take a bigger bite out
of those already full of holes.
